hen the Mavs starters were introduced, there were a good number of cheers for Jason Kidd, Dirk, and Jason Terry.

The Mavs led by 6 after the first half and appeared to be on their way to a win. But the Kings closed in on the lead and only trailed by 1 to start the 4th quarter. With a 17-4 run to open the final quarter, the King took the lead and never looked back. The Mavs could not manage their trend of come-from-behind wins this night. Dirk was out of sync and Jason Kidd just couldn't buy a basket. The only player making any shots in this game was

And when Dirk struggles, it puts a lot of pressure on guys like Jason Terry, and Jerry Stackhouse. Unfortunately, Jet and Stack are both volume shooters who can be streaky. And if they shoot poorly on a night when Nowitzki’s shot isn’t dropping, it’s bad news for Dallas.

Remember Jason Terry always brings the A-game from the bench and this is a veteran squad that may finally be saving their best play for the right time of the season. Things may get worse before they get better, with New Orleans, at Houston, and Phoenix all this week. But I fully expect to see vast improvement in the next few weeks, Avery Johnson is a motivator worthy of Tony Robbins’ envy. I give you my guarantee that Golden State will not only, not make the playoffs and be the only team in the NBA to have the Mavericks number and keep them from the sweet nectar of World Champion victory, but they will also still have the ugliest team in the NBA.
